Black Swan – A Review

The first thing I learnt about Black Swan was that when Darren Aronofsky made The Wrestler, it was originally supposed to be about a wrestler and a ballerina (not a wrestler and a stripper,) but Aronofsky decided to split them into two films… Interesting fact!

Black Swan

Anyho, so how was the film… It was awesome. The journey you’re taken on is a rollercoaster and you genuinely don’t know what’s around the next corner! About half way through, I began to attempt to figure it all out and started guessing what was gonna happen next. I was kinda on the money but the ending threw me for six and I was pleasantly surprised.

I wasn’t as emotionally connected to Nina as I thought I would be… Which was good in a way and I think that’s how I was meant to feel. It almost felt cold but again, I think that’s how it was supposed to feel.

Natalie Portman

Academy Award Nominee, Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman was just stunning… I think she portrayed the tortured artist, tortured soul and ultimately and most destroyingly, a perfectionist. Her academy nod is wholly deserved and (although I haven’t seen all other nominee’s) could possibly win the OSCAR. Portman certainly has swan up on the other nominee’s… Ahem.

Anyway, you know I don’t go too far into detail when reviewing movies and I think this is one that’s gonna be hard to describe (as it doesn’t really slot into a genre,) hard to explain (as it could be a bit confusing,) but one you’ve gotta check out for yourself.

P.S. A black swan walked into a pub once… The landlord said “Hey! I named this pub after you!”; The black swan replied “What? Your pub’s called Steve?”

Harry Potter 7 Part Two – New Photo

Wingardium Leviosaaaaahhh!!!!!

Harry Potter 7 Poster

Here’s the first official photo released from Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part Two which shows Neville Longbottom (played by Matthew Lewis) standing in Hogwarts in what appears to be a scene in the final EPIC showdown!

There are plenty of other photos flying around the internets but I don’t like ‘sneaky set shots,’ I much prefer to watch the slow trickle of photos being released by the studio as and when they want us to see them.

Super8 Beaten

So the trailer for JJ Abrams’ latest epic was released the other day, and a good friend Scott (@scottwardle77 ) put me on to a secret message.

If you slow it down, the letters at the end spell out SCARIESTTHINGIEVERSAW – Which leads to http://www.scariestthingieversaw.com/

After talking over some more, I noticed that the number was rising every six seconds… Our numbers were the same too… I had to calculate this.

  • At the time of working this out, my number was on 114277
  • The target number was 134640
  • The difference is 20340
  • Every six seconds meant 122,040 seconds until the download is complete.
  • That’s 33.9 hours. Approximately.
  • That’s a countdown to 00:59, May 13th (PST or LA time)

There’s my prediction… We’ll get the next glimpse into JJ Abrams’ much awaited thriller/horror/shocker/alien-movie/nothingtodowithCloverfield EPIC of a movie.
