Chris Moyles Show Marathon – Update

The gaps will be filled in very soon but pulling the data from my FreeviewHD PVR is proving trickier than I expected!

So, the audio. Well, I woke up Sunday morning and although all the video files had synced to MobileMe ready for sharing, the audio files appeared to be missing. So I checked online, they weren’t there. On my local iDisk… Nothing. I even tried it on my iPhone app and although they initially showed, within seconds the app had updated and they vanished!

I even flicked on Time Machine and even though there’s an hourly backup of the last few days, iDisk doesn’t backup on Time Machine. Of course it doesn’t… iDisk is supposed to be an online backup!!

Anyway, it’s been escalated and escalated at Apple and it’s currently with a MobileMe Engineer as he tries to restore my missing data. As soon as it’s back, the audio archive will be too.

In the meantime, I’m sourcing other audio files which have had the music edited out and I’ll share this once it’s online too.

A Morning Treat…

So I stayed up most of the night watching the live feed and what a night it was!

The last hour of Chris, Dave, Grimmy and several celebs was great. Davina and the rest of the team were great! I can’t believe how quick it got to 2am!

Then Benji B arrives and it’s quite awesome! Chris and Dave were digging through his record box and Chris was even mixing for a bit!

At 3am Dave decided to go and have a shower, get changed and come back at 3:30. Then Chris would shower up, get changed and they’d both be fresh and ready for Dev and the Early Morning Breakfast Show! Nearly 24 hours and they both haven’t slept!

So anyway, during the night I figured out how to pull recordings off my Humax FreeviewHD box and so I set to it… I managed to get The Chris Moyles Show feed from 20:55 – 21:55 and I’m recording a LOT more!

It took a while to convert and sort out, so I’ll save the rest until the weekend. For now, here’s an hour with Jimmy Carr, Vernon Kay, Comedy Dave and Chris Moyles.

(The mp4 file is formatted for iPad and is easily imported into iTunes. It should play on any other device as well! – Oh, and I’m posting this as I go to bed but set it to detonate at 7am!)

OK, so if I timed this post right, this should be going online at 7:30 and Chris Moyles will be an hour into his World Record attempt for the Longest Radio Show.

I’m obviously going to be working throughout this epic show and so I’m going to be missing quite a bit and I normally use BBC iPlayer to Listen Again so I generally don’t miss a show.

So here’s the plan… I’ve setup Audio Hijack Pro to record from the BBC website, starting at 06:29 all the way through Friday (just in case Chris carries on after Thursday night and I’ll catch the point he goes to bed!) The app will save my files every hour and as it saves to my iDisk folder, it’s uploaded to the cloud automatically.

I was originally going to use dropbox but I can only share links to individual files and I wanted it to share with you all without my intervention, so for once, iDisk came out trumps!

Get on with it right… OK. Here are the files -

The files should be named with the time of the recording, so you’ll be able to see what you’re getting. Please help yourself, and please share – Although please share the link to here, so new guests know where they’re coming from!

09:08 – I figured out why the files didn’t share automatically… I’d still had it set to share on dropbox. It’s fixed now and will be available on MobileMe all day!

11:06 – I can go to work happy that everything’s working fine. There were some problems as it’s trying to upload the file which is in progress recording… I guess it’ll upload as it goes!

21:25 – Just got home from work and everything’s still going… Including Chris and Comedy Dave! I’ve had over 100 visitors to this page since this morning, so I’m gonna keep going as someone must be downloading this!
