Steve Jobs Resigns

In an open letter to Apple’s board of directors and the Apple community, Steve Jobs wrote:

Steve Jobs Resigns

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

I guess it’s a sad day for Apple fans, colleagues and maybe the future of computing? Will Tim Cook be able to cope as CEO and continue right where Steve left off… I guess we’ll see soon when the next iPhone is released.

Wishing Steve all the best and hoping his health is treating him well.

Twitter Integration in Mac OSX Lion

I thought I’d share a couple of tidbits I found in Mac OSX Lion. As well as integrating Twitter with iOS and allowing you to share photos and videos, Apple have added extra functionality to their Mac operating system too!

Simply highlight any text, pretty much anywhere in Lion, right-click and you’ll see a new option… Tweet!

As well as this, you can also highlight a word or name, right-click and select Open as Twitter Username!

Twitter Username

If you have Twitter.app installed, Lion will open this and complete the desired action. If not, I guess it would open twitter.com in Safari.

Catwoman… SWING!

You all should know by now, I’m not one for spoilers. When I see set photos and sneaky shots released/leaked on the internets, I try to steer clear. I don’t want a movie ruined, especially anything in the Marvel or DC Universe.

So when Warner/DC revealed the first official image for Selina Kyle last week, I was a little excited… Then I realised it was Anne Hathaway in leather… SWING!

Catwoman

Not much revealed mind you but it’s interesting to see Catwoman on the tumbler. Biggest question on my lips at the minute… Is Selina going to be a friend or feline-foe…

Handy Full Screen Tip – Lion

Here’s a handy little tip for Lion users if you’re tempted to try using Full Screen mode a little more. I find Full Screen really good when I’m on my MacBook Air but on my iMac, I just find it too spacious. I use Full Screen for iTunes and that’s it.

On my Air, I have iTunes, iPhoto, Reeder, Google+ (using Fluid) and of course Photo Booth all using Full Screen. I four-finger swipe through them all and love using Mission Control. So anyway, here’s the tip, you can create a keyboard shortcut to easily switch between Full Screen modes.

  • First, enter System Preferences and go to the Keyboard panel.
  • Head over to the Keyboard Shortcuts panel and you should just see the Show Help Menu command already there.Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Click + to add a new command and in Menu Title, type Enter Full Screen, then enter your keyboard shortcut in the next box.
  • I chose ⌘§ as that’s quite easy to hit but you can choose whatever you like.Enter Full Screen
  • Then create another new command to Exit Full Screen.Exit Full Screen
  • You can even create application specific commands. Such as Private Browsing in Safari.
  • Private Browsing
Go through your menu in various applications and look what you frequently use. Have a play and create more!
Have fun!

Henry Cavill as Superman – Man of Steel

So finally, we get to see Henry Cavill as The Man of Steel in the new \S/ suit!

Superman

I need to see more to make a decision but so far, I’m liking it! The shield has gone a bit classic and looks similar to my tattoo and his pose reminds me of the original TV series from the 50′s.

The rest of his outfit is very similar (the cape tucked under his collar, the boots, etc…) but I’ll tell you something, he’s looking pretty bulky! I think it’s the heaviest or ‘pumped’ I’ve seen Superman!

What’s everyone’s thoughts? Looking good so far?
